News From the Apple World

With the use of Siri you no longer have to get into an application to make changes but simply tell your phone what you want done for example if you want to add a reminder to your calendar then you could say “remind me at (time) that I should buy some broccoli”. it even takes it one step further with the location integration into iOS5 so that you could say “remind when i leave work to buy some broccoli” and it will detect that you have left your works location and remind you appropriately. Pretty nifty.

For all you iPhone 4 and 3GS users rest assured you aren’t left out, iOS5 supports these devices and brings this location functionality with it. Our technician this morning created a reminder for himself when he would physically arrive at work and sure enough when he pulled up, he was reminded.

The iPhone 4s is available as of October 14th although expected shipping or delivery times are 1-2 weeks. Regardless, I’m about to pre-order mine.

Tip of the Month

With the release of iOS5 late last week we thought it would be prudent to mention some tips and experiences of our own on the matter.
Please note, before updating, please back up your phone by letting it Sync fully with iTunes. If you get asked to apply the update, then click cancel and make sure you have a recent backup completed. You can always wait to update; waiting for a later version (i.e. 5.1 or 5.0.1) usually fixes any major bugs and saves you from spending time troubleshooting.
